The 2010 Olympic Torch Relay is the longest relay in history to be contained within the host country. Recently Julia Wilkinson, former NYAC swimmer and member of the 2008 Canadian Olympic team which competed in Beijing, was honored when she carried the Olympic torch into the City of Stratford. She was a member of the six person team responsible for carrying the Olympic torch through her home town. It was quite befitting to welcome the former Olympian back to her hometown to be part of the prestigious celebration. The event was also celebrated by her family when they hosted a dinner to recognize the many people who supported Julia on her Olympic journey and to take time to enjoy all of her achievements.
