August 24, 2026 - The Calgary Patriots Swim Club is pleased to announce the addition of Ray Betuzzi as their new Performance coach, effective September 1, 2026.
Expanding its athlete development pathway with the addition of a new Performance Squad and coach, the Calgary Patriots will provide a dedicated elite training environment for athletes pursuing high-performance goals.
Betuzzi brings 15 years of high-performance coaching experience to the Club, including more than a decade with the University of Calgary Dinos varsity swim program, where he most recently served as Senior Assistant Coach.
During his coaching career, Betuzzi has helped develop athletes from the provincial level through U SPORTS and Canadian National Team competition. With the Dinos, he contributed to multiple Canada West conference championships and numerous U SPORTS championship podium finishes.
While Betuzzi will lead the Performance Squad, his role with the Patriots will extend across the Club. He will work alongside coaches on deck at other squad levels, providing mentorship, collaboration and coach-development opportunities while supporting a consistent approach to athlete development throughout the program.
“We are excited to welcome Ray to the Calgary Patriots,” said the Club’s Board of Directors. “His athlete-centred, fundamentals-first coaching philosophy will be an important addition to our program. Ray’s experience and knowledge will help us continue to raise the level of our athletes while supporting the development of coaches and swimmers throughout the Club.”
Prior to his coaching career, Ray was a Canadian National Team swimmer from 2004 to 2011, representing Canada at the 2006 Pan Pacific Championships. He also competed in the NCAA Division I ranks at the University of Minnesota, where he served as captain of the men's swim team.
